October 2017 - Tonya Bolden-Ball, Director of the Center for Minority Excellence

Join us at our October meeting to hear Tonya Bolden-Ball's presentation on her journey in leadership and mentoring future leaders.

Tonya Bolden-Ball is the director of the Center for Minority Excellence at South Louisiana Community College. She holds a Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a concentration in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Her awards and recognition include: The Louisiana Association of Educator's Human and Civil Rights Trailblazer Honoree, the Lafayette Democratic Parish Executive Committee Outstanding Democratic Honoree, the Delta Women in Business Award, and the Daily Advertiser/705 Top 20 under 40 Leadership Award.

Her community involvement includes serving as the mentor for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Black Women Leadership Association, mentor for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Women's Basketball team, Co-Chair of the Louisiana Social Action Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and president-elect of the Faith House's board of directors.

Tonya serves as Vice-President of Scholarship Committee for the Christiana Smith Alumni Chapter, alumni member of the Leadership Institute of Lafayette, appointee to the Louisiana Women's Policy and Research Commission, and a graduate of the NOBEL (National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women) Women Leadership Training and Educational Development Institute.

She currently is a member of the CABL (Council for a Better Louisiana) 2017 Leadership Louisiana Class. She is married to Kirk R. Ball and they are of the parents of two children, Trevor and Kennedi.
