Monique Boulet, currently serving as the first female Mayor-President of Lafayette Parish, was born and raised in Lafayette, LA, and is the mother of four grown children. She earned her Executive MBA from UL Lafayette, and as the daughter of Louisiana's first female Governor, continues a family legacy of public service.
Before being elected as Mayor-President, Boulet served as the Chief Executive Officer for the Acadiana Planning Commission. Under her leadership, Acadiana secured a $35Million federal investment for rural fiber infrastructure, received the first-of-its-kind $25Million regional allocation through Louisiana's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, provided insight for the Acadiana Watershed Initiative, and received national recognition for environmental excellence. Since 2016, she has served as project lead on the Bottle Art Lofts neighborhood transformation.
As a public speaker and panelist on issues ranging from rural broadband and disaster recovery to workforce resilience and opportunity zone development, Monique has represented Acadiana with professionalism and credibility on the national stage.
Before entering public office, Monique developed business plans and brand recognition initiatives for several private corporations including oil field service companies, computer hardware manufacturers, and hospital medical centers.
Her professional associations have included Lafayette Gateway Committee, South Louisiana Community College Board, Broadband for Everyone Commission (appointment under former Governor John Bel Edwards,) National Association of Development Organizations, US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, and Schools of the Sacred Heart Board of Trustees. Since 2012, she continues serving as a Lector and Marriage Minister at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.
