February 2018 - Julia Breaux Melancon, Humane Society of the United States

Join us at our February meeting to hear Julia Breaux Melancon's story of her journey to the top post at the Human Society for Louisiana.

Julia is the Louisiana State Director for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and is responsible for all legislative activities in our state.

The HSUS is the nation's largest and most effective animal welfare organization. They work in the United States and abroad to protect all animals. They celebrate the human-animal bond, and fight animal cruelty and abuse in all its forms.

During her time at HSUS, Julie has overseen pet shop raids, disaster responses, animal shelter management, and state and federal lobbying activities. In 2007, she campaigned to pass a ban on cockfighting in Louisiana.
